Sam Finds Santa & Samara in Santas Grotto:
Embracing the warmth of the festive season, we headed to the winter fair hosted by Layia hotel & Suites, Poolside in Tecom. Sadly though there was nothing much except for a few stalls selling overly priced greeting cards and Christmas tree hangings, bored sales staff and the couldn’t be bothered residents of the hotel taking a dip in the pool. We returned to the lobby and were met by a very sweet couple who offered to take our picture right beside am extraordinarily decorated Christmas tree after which we bought a shared a croissant and some coffee latte before embarking on our next mission, which was to seat our lil’ angel on Santas lap at the Wafi shopping mall.
Santa took a seat in his golden armchair while we poor parents waited in a long queue outside his grotto alongside restless babies and excited toddlers. Santa disappeared for a 20 minute break and we munched on some chicken nuggets and fries while shifting our body weight from one foot to another. Sam the naughty princess behaved well infront of Santa as she sat in his lap and oogled at the shiny ornaments and toys heaped up in a pile in his grotto. She finally received a first toy, a toy soldier but things took a quirky turn when Sam indicated to Santa that she wanted more by tightly grasping onto his long white beard….Finally we bade each other seasons greetings and well wishes for the coming new year while hurrying off to collect our photos.
